Summer Fun with GHCU
Tuesday, July 28th, 2009
Now just lie still. This won't hurt. Much.
I can’t believe it’s nearly August already. By the time I realize summer’s here, it’ll be over. OK, when I walk out into the 90+ degree weather, I get a pretty sharp and sweaty reminder that “summer’s here,” but I have yet to take real advantage of it. If you’re like me and haven’t yet made room in your life for the fun of summer, have I got an event for you.
Friday, August 7 is the South Lake Union Block Party. Held from noon to 11pm on the grounds of the South Lake Union Discovery Center (101 Westlake Avenue North), the SLU Block Party is one of the most entertaining events of the summer.
There’s live music from local bands on the mainstage, a Kids’ Area (model building with the Center for Wooden Boats?! Kids only? Rly?), a bunch of booths with games and giveaways from local businesses, including yours truly.
It’s a great way to get to know the neighborhood, including the mass transit. Because (a) there will be lots of people and not much available parking, (b) there’s the can’t-miss Discovery Wine event with offerings from 12 local wineries, and (c) the Redhook Beer Garden opens at 3 pm, please plan on using the readily available and hugely convenient mass transit opportunities.
So about those games: I don’t want to give away any secrets here, but GHCU has put together a pretty nifty game for our booth. (Being constructed in the picture above.) We’ve got great prizes and plenty of information, if you’d like to stop and chat with the staff members who will be on hand.
See you there!
